Majid’s generosity is not limited to supporting young talents in music, art, and science. Its commitment aims to foster the development of all forms of creativity and human knowledge. For this purpose, Gourmet Majid was created — an initiative launched and funded by the Foundation to promote the initiative and skills of young chefs in the region, founded on the belief that food represents an artistic form of expression that goes far beyond the simple need to satisfy a biological requirement. Around food revolve values linked to hospitality, convivial sharing, and mutual understanding, which Majid intends to highlight through its work.

To this end, in 2021 a commission of expert gastronomes was formed, meeting occasionally to visit and evaluate the work of these chefs according to a series of criteria, from which a prize of 2,500 CHF is awarded.

The first edition of Gourmet Majid involved brilliant and highly skilled candidates, making it difficult to select a winner. Ultimately, the prize was awarded to 33-year-old chef Salvatore Sanfilippo of the Mona restaurant in Bellinzona, honored on June 6, 2023.

Gourmet Majid was born with the hope of encouraging new talents in the local culinary arts to submit their projects to the Foundation also in this important area of human life.
