Maria Kononov was born in 1997 in the United States. A child of artists, Maria showed exceptional talent from a very young age, beginning to draw at just three years old. Initially, her early works focused mainly on the animal world, which she first depicted in pencil and later in watercolor. The remarkable creativity of this young artist developed very early and quite spontaneously, without any formal training, leading her to experiment with different techniques and surfaces before finally focusing on canvas painting, her true vocation. Her artistic flair did not go unnoticed, and soon solo exhibitions dedicated to her work were organized around the world, including at the Venice Biennale.
In 2015, Maria became the youngest member of the World Academy of Art and Science (WAAS), and over the years she has continued to build a well-rounded artistic profile, working successfully as a painter, illustrator, sculptor, fashion designer, and set designer. Now an established artist, Maria combines her creative activity with social commitment, carrying out numerous charity projects inspired by the same altruistic “generosity” that animates Majid.
The Majid Foundation organized Maria Kononov’s first solo exhibition in Switzerland as part of the inauguration of Maison Majid in Ascona, also overseeing the publication of the illustrated exhibition catalog.
