The Majid Foundation participated in a major project supporting the Accademia Dimitri of SUPSI, which has branches throughout Switzerland. The project, titled “Life Stories… in Motion, Thanks to Theatre”, featured two former Academy students, Anna Kiskanc and Timo Comandè, who led a series of eight workshops for elderly people with dementia, held at the Rosental Senior Center in Winterthur starting October 19.
The project will be expanded to other areas of German–speaking Switzerland, in collaboration with gerontopsychologist Anne Eschen and Manuela Kobelt from the Institute for Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Prevention at the University of Zurich, responsible for the Prevention and Health Promotion in Old Age program for the Canton of Zurich.
The same format was introduced in Canton Ticino in January 2024, at the Pro Senectute Therapeutic Day Center in Muralto and at the Pro Senectute Socio–Assistential Day Center Tertianum in Tenero, always under the guidance of Anna Kiskanc and with Annekatrin Weber as a trainee facilitator at the Dimitri Academy.
At the same time, financial support from the Foundation enabled the aforementioned Academy students Timo Comandè and Annekathrin Weber to participate in the Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) “Theatricality Meets Dementia.”
