THE MAJID FOUNDATION INAUGURATES THE NEW SOLO EXHIBITION OF TONY FAVRE.
An artist from Aosta, born in 1958, after various experiments in graphics, he dedicated himself to wood sculpture. From the ’80s he moved to Genoa, where he began working on his 3D sculptures.
Very active artistically, in 2012 he created the new collection “Il Mondo in Bilico” (“The World in Balance”), an evocative universe where villages perched on an island in the sea are the absolute protagonists of the artist’s poetic vision—a kind of “Island that does not exist,” where dream and reality meet to give life to an ideal world. The presence of humans is only imagined and never depicted.
The works of “Il Mondo in Bilico” are made from wood essences (maple, poplar, larch) which, after being shaped and carved, are painted with hot pigmentation, a special technique that allows the wood to absorb just the right amount of color needed for durability. The inclusion of gold leaf and other special materials makes the works even more captivating to the viewer.
