We were pleased to welcomeProf. Robert Brandenberger from McGill University, Montreal, who presented his theoretical cosmology research to a packed audience.
The evening was a journey into modern cosmology and what we know (and don’t know) about the Universe’s origin. Given the great interest, we hope this is the start of a series on cosmic knowledge.
Born 1956, Brandenberger studied at ETH Zurich and earned his PhD at Harvard. He conducted postdoctoral research at UC Santa Barbara and Cambridge under Stephen Hawking. From 1987 to 2004 he taught at Brown University, then moved to McGill. He developed the string gas cosmology theory and has received numerous honors including the Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship (1988), Killam Research Fellowship (2009), and the CAP-CRM Prize (2011). He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society since 2001.
